They lived in New Britain Township near the Hilltown line. This farm of 188 acres is located about one quarter mile east of the Upper Hilltown Baptist church, and a few hundred yards from Stump Road. (Owned by Frederick Steeb in 1892.) Abraham Kratz (also known as Cratz) purchased this fine farm and large pointed stone house and barn from an early Welsh settler named William Williams in 1767 when Abraham was a young farmer age of 26. Williams had purchased this and other land (307 acres in all) 20 years earlier in 1747 and it is assumed that he built this mansion home. However the corner stone is eroded and not readable. Williams is said to be a descendant of Roger Williams of early fame as the founder of Rhode Island. The buildings are a well built stone house two stories high, and a stone barn. The farm and home have view of the county seat court house to the southern view. In 1982 a limited acreage including the buildings and about 5 acres was owned by John W. Calahan. Abraham willed 110 acres of his lands, including the homestead, to his eldest son, Valentine Kratz, and 3 acres to his other son, Abraham. Simeon, son of Valentine, in turn inherited the 110 acres and homestead.
