Shared note | Lorenzo Dow Inskeep was very patriotic and with war clouds hovering, took a band to recruit volunteers, and formed a unit int he township "Co. E -- 122 Regiment, Ohio Volunteers" He enlisted for three years and "or duration of the war". He was msutered in a corporal on October 3, 1862, Zanesville, Ohio. Later he became a sergeant. At Cold Harbor, the bloodiest battle was fought. Their loss was 12,000 men in less than one hour. L. D. Inskeep was shot in the corner of his right eye, teh ball pasing through his neck , coming out his back. He was taken to General Lee's home, renamed "Lincoln Hospital", where he died two weeks later on June 15, 1864. |
